Locomotive Driver Toilets are now added to our wide range of toilet systems
In the past five months Glova has designed a "real" toilet for freight train locomotives in corporation with the Siemens AG. A complete space saving and light weight toilet cabin by adapting technology from the bus industry with the typical train demands was developed to its series-production readiness. With this locomotive-wc, the engine driver becomes independent of the sanitary facilities of depots and stations now. Further on the legal safety and hygiene requirements can be met for the loco engine driver and shows the right way to the future.
Technology of the loco toilet
A micro controller operated water flushing toilet system has been developed especially for complying with a tough set of temperature demands ranging from + 70 down to ./. 40 °C with the toilet system still in service. To comply with the demanded G-forces the grp-cabin has been equipped with an external supporting frame also acting as frame for the two enclosed tanks holding fresh and waste water. Despite the frame practical dimensions as small as approx. 1500 x 850 x 2100 (mm) making it fit conveniently into the locomotive it has still been accomplished holding the whole system with toilet unit and hand wash basin.
Prospect
New versions of freight locomotive toilet systems for different environments and customers requirements have already been ordered and we are now bringing locomotive driver comfort up to new standards. First pictures and more details of the train driver toilet will be published starting from July 2007.
